Adam Lang Renshi Founder, Ko Bu Kan, Ryukyu Karate School. 7th Dan Black Belt, Ryukyu Kempo. 3rd Dan Black Belt, Tao Shield, Quantum Scientific Research Centre. Lang Renshi began training in Martial Arts in early 1988 at the local Kempo Karate school in Wellington. Since 1993, Lang Renshi has been a member of the Ryukyu Kempo NZ Association, receiving his first level of Black Belt in December 1993. 2006 2016, Lang Renshi has been training with the United Ryukyu Kempo Alliance learning the art of Ryukyu Kempo as taught by Taika Oyata, a 10th Dan master from the Ryukyu Islands. 2015 onwards, Lang Renshi has been involved with the development group in the Tao Shield principles under 10th Dan, Ian Waite Sijo. ________________________________________________ Alan Campbell Renshi 6th Dan Black Belt, Ryukyu Kempo. Campbell Renshi began training in Kyokushinkai Karate in 1970 and as a career Police officer, he trained on and off over the years. In early 1992, Campbell Renshi began training in Ryukyu Kempo and joined our school in 1998 with his Dojo. Campbell Renshi has continued to train and instruct in Ryukyu Kempo and is a very experienced member of the Instructor’s team. ________________________________________________ Andrew Empson Shihan 5th Dan Black Belt, Ryukyu Kempo. 2nd Dan Black Belt, Tao Shield, Quantum Scientific Research Centre. Empson Shihan joined the school in mid 1998 and earned his first level Black Belt in December 2004. Empson Shihan has been instructing at the school since receiving his Black Belt and is one of the most dedicated and accomplished Martial Arts instructors in New Zealand. ________________________________________________ John Dustin Shihan 4th Dan Black Belt, Ryukyu Kempo. Dustin Shihan is the ‘2IC’ for Campbell Renshi’s Dojo in Papakowhai and has been training in Ryukyu Kempo since 1994. Over the years Dustin Shihan has amassed a great deal of experience the art to impart to the students. ________________________________________________ Johnny Kibblewhite Shihan 3rd Dan Black Belt, Ryukyu Kempo. 3rd Dan Black Belt, Tao Shield, Quantum Scientific Research Centre. Kibblewhite Shihan joined the school when our Whitby Dojo opened in 2010 with his son, (who is now also a 2nd Dan Black Belt in the school) and found a passion for it within himself. This passion drives his desire to impart his knowledge and experience to the students in the school. ________________________________________________ Brendan Ashton Shihan 3rd Dan Black Belt, Ryukyu Kempo. Similar to Kibblewhite Shihan, Ashton Shihan joined the school when our Whitby Dojo opened in 2010 with his kids. Brendan brings a wealth of prior experience from many years of training in Tae Kwon Do. This prior experience combined with his knowledge of Ryukyu Kempo gives the students a broader look at self-defence training. ________________________________________________ Damon Taylor Shihan 3rd Dan Black Belt, Ryukyu Kempo. Similar to both Ashton and Kibblewhite Shihans, Taylor Shihan joined the school when our Whitby Dojo opened in 2010. Damon comes from a background of many years of training in Kempo Bushido Ryu in Porirua. This prior experience combined with his knowledge of Ryukyu Kempo also gives the students a broader look at self-defence training. ________________________________________________ Camina Chin Sensei 2nd Dan Black Belt, Ryukyu Kempo. Chin Sensei began training at the school in 2014 and has been teaching classes since her brown belt levels to assist the senior instructors. ________________________________________________ Michaela Paul Sensei 2nd Dan Black Belt, Ryukyu Kempo. Paul Sensei also began training at the school in 2014 and has been assisting with teaching the kids class at the Whitby Dojo for several years.
